__________________________________ McCarty named as principal of Texas Leadership of Abilene
Melinda McCarty, most recently the superintendent intern at Wylie ISD, has been named principal of the new Texas Leadership Charter Academy in Abilene. My son went to the public schools here for the first 7 1/2 school years. He started struggling with grades in the 6th grade, the culture shock from going from a class room size of 15 to 20 students in Elementary school to one of 30 in Middle School hindered his learning. By the time he was in the 7th grade he was failing every class and being bullied at school. He cried every morning on the way to school and developed an attitude at home. Half way through the 7th grade year I pulled him out and enrolled him at TLCA. The smaller class size was able to give him the attention he needed from the teacher to help him succeed. His grades improved significantly, he passed the 7th grade. By the time he was in the 8th grade his attitude started changing for the better. I am very proud to announce that my lost son, whom I did not think would make it through school is a Senior this year. He has a passion to succeed, again. TLCA made this difference in his life!

As our oldest child approached school age, we started to have a lot of anxiety not knowing what the correct school choice would be for him. Do we homeschool? Public school? Private? A few months before he was set to start kindergarten, we learned about TLCA. From the very beginning, we KNEW it was the right place for our child. The staff immediately made us feel like part of a family, not just a number. Each principal has taken time to get to know not only my kid, but all of the kids. It’s truly amazing watching the high fives and hugs that are given to the kids regularly.
We love so much about TLCA. We love the family feel. We love how seriously education is taken. We love how comfortable our son feels there. We love that he starts each day happy and excited for school, and comes home in the same mood. We love that we can email or call ANYONE at the school at anytime about anything, and know we will get a response and be taken seriously.
Thank you TLCA
I knew I’d put him ONLY at TLCA when it was time to put him back into a school system. TLCA went out of their way repeatedly to get both of us settled and comfortable.
my jr high & high school athletes are Eagles at heart and love the athletics programs and staff. I would recommend this school to anyone.
